So… why CDs?
Repurposing materials is just a good idea.
I’ve had a box of CDs and DVDs for so long it has moved with me three times.
It's full of software installation CDs, spindles of blank DVDs that will never be burned with data, scratched movies that skip, exercise videos... sound familiar?
The small circular shape drew me in.
The last time this box surfaced I thought, could I collage onto these? Would anything stick to them?
The answer is yes.
I now have a box full of tiny, round canvases. Each piece of artwork diverts a CD or DVD out of the waste stream. My hope is that this series helps to foster a deeper connection to our environment.
